This year's annual walkathon to benefit the
Emergency Fuel Fund for the Elderly is scheduled for Sunday afternoon,
May 4th at 2:00 PM at Powell Valley High School in Big Stone Gap, Va. Our
goal is to raise $155,000. Every cent raised will be spent next winter
to heat the homes of people 60 years of age or older who are trapped in
emergency situations. We serve the counties of Wise, Lee and Scott and
the City of Norton. If you or your group can help us, please call

to make life easier for our older friends and neighbors.

The third annual duck race has been
rescheduled for Saturday, April 26th at Frog Level Park in
Big Stone Gap, VA. This is a fundraiser sponsored by Heritage Hall of
Big Stone Gap and Mountain Empire Older Citizens. The Emergency Fuel Fund
will receive $5000 of the proceeds with the remainder going to Heritage Hall
residents' Christmas fund. The tickets are only $5.00 with a chance to win
$1,000 top prize, $500 second prize and seven other prizes from $250 to

2:00
PM and promises to be an exciting one. Come and join us on Saturday,
