Healthy Families for Southwest Virginia is a
voluntary prevention program that provides support to first-time parents by
means of home visits. Parents can access the program in the hospital either
pre-natally or at the baby’s birth by requesting a Welcome Baby home
visit. Healthy Families home visitors answer questions, calm fears, provide
up-to-date information on child health and development, and share with new
parents ways to care for their infants that will help them become the very
best parents that they can be. Healthy Families stays involved with the
family until the child reaches age four. Provides an opportunity as well for
seniors to be of service to young families.
