    Location:  PACE ADHC, Big Stone Gap, VA

    Mountain Empire Older Citizens Program for All Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE) is accepting applications for Personal Care Aides (PCA) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to provide personal care services in the MEOC PACE Adult Day Health Center (ADHC) in Big Stone Gap, VA.

    We are seeking PCAs and CNAs who are willing to work in an Adult Day Health Care setting and have at least one year experience in caring for the frail elderly.

    These are hourly positions with the starting wage at $8.25 per hour.

    Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center
    Volunteers Needed!

    The Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center is in need of volunteers to assist in managing the Center's activities.  Volunteer needs include assisting cancer patients and their families locate cancer related health information, gathering materials for the organization's quarterly meetings, taking referrals for assistance, coordinating requests for assistance with MEOC programs and other community resources, assisting in planning and staging community fundraisers and other responsibilities as necessary.  If you enjoy helping others and are interested in volunteering in a pleasant and fulfilling environment, please contact Maggie Gilbert at 523-4202 or email her at mchristian@meoc.org.

    20-40 hours per week - Start $7.50/hour.  $7.75/hour at six-months.  $8.25/hour at 12 months with satisfactory performance.  Must obtain CDT by 12th month for that raise.

    Family Resource Specialist/Family Support Worker

    Full-time position, 40 hours per week. Family Resource Specialist conducts interviews of first time parents to determine their eligibility for intensive home visitation services. Family Support Worker initiates and maintains regular and long-term contact/support with families in their homes. Activities are family-centered and strength-based, assisting in strengthening the parent-child relationship.

    Qualifications: Maturity and experience in successfully working with children, 0 – 5 years and their families. Must have knowledge of normal child growth/development and parent-child relationships as well as experience working with families. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, an understanding of cultural diversity and be non-judgmental. Must have valid VA driver’s license and dependable transportation. Self-motivated and task oriented. Experience in working with community agencies, including making referrals. Good writing and organizational skills a must. Bachelor’s Degree required.
