Our operations are based out of our transit facility in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. MEOC Transit serves the LENOWISCO Planning District in far Southwestern Virginia--Lee, Wise and Scott Counties and the City of Norton.

PUBLIC TRANSIT DISPATCHER

Shift 1 - 6:15 AM to 2:15 PM M-F - NO Current Openings

Shift 2 - 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM M-F  - NO Current Openings

Full-Time Hourly $8.00 to $9.50/Hr. DOE/DOQ

Duties include receiving and appropriately processing service requests from seniors, persons with physical and cognitive disabilities, professional staff, civic organizations and others via phone and in person.  Successful applicant will exhibit skill in human relations and verbal communications.  Position requires use of specialized trip scheduling and route coordination software.  Must demonstrate ability to respond appropriately to customers’ concerns.  Will perform associated clerical duties, and other duties as assigned.  Pre-employment physical examination, pre-employment drug screen and on-going drug and alcohol testing, plus criminal background check required.  Applications are available at MEOC or send resume to Transit Director, Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc., P.O. PUBLIC TRANSIT BUS DRIVERS

Shift - Generally between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM M-F  Applications Accepted Year Round

20 - 40 Hours per Week $5.85/Hr with $0.25/Hr Increase @ 3,6,9,12, & 18  Months with Satisfactory Performance

If you have a good driving record and enjoy working with the public, Mountain Empire Transit wants you! No experience necessary... We provide all required training at no cost.  Mountain Empire Transit  has temporary, seasonal and full-time positions available.  We offer flexible hours, perfect for retirees and substitute school bus drivers.  Compliance with drug and alcohol testing program and DOT physical required.
